We heard this question over and over again at last month’s ACS National Meeting in Dallas. Everyone loved the idea of a small, accessible mass spectrometer at a price less than anything they had seen before. Their only concern was “how easy is it to maintain for my students/chemists/group that doesn’t have a technical expert on call”?
We were able to answer this question with several real world examples from current users. Our favorite story is that of David Rotella at Montclair State University in Northeast Pennsylvania. David spent many years in industry with access to the latest and greatest in detection technology, and a dedicated service department. When he joined the academic world, he wanted the same technology for his research group, but was concerned about serviceability. The expression CMS and Advion’s service and support group was the answer he needed.
